Our Research

The RCMI Center for Health Disparities Research (RCHDR) is a research center sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. The RCHDR conducts innovative research to advance the science of health disparities through strategic investments in critical research infrastructure, community engagement, and training/building a critical mass of biomedical scientists to address important health disparities and concerns to vulnerable and underserved communities. The Center is highly committed to implementing innovative research to improve minority health and reduce Mississippi’s health disparities.

“Health is more than the absence of disease; it is about economics, education, environment, empowerment, and community. The health and well being of the people is critically dependent upon the health system that serves them. It must provide the best possible health with the least disparities and respond equally well to everyone.” – Joycelyn Elders
