CANCER CELL FUSION: A MECHANISM DRIVING BREAST TUMOR HETEROGENEITY AND METASTASIS

Cancer Cell Fusion-Driven Tumor Heterogeneity and Metastasis

We recently showed in a mouse model that breast cancer cells can fuse with cells of the tumor microenvironment to form hybrids with unique genetic makeup capable of lung metastases.

Using the breast cancer model, we are delineating the molecular mechanisms of cancer cell fusion and its impact on breast cancer metastasis and breast cancer disparity in our population.
